This public exhibition attempted to explore and challenge the notion of sustainability in architecture, at a time when words like “sustainable” and “green” were beginning to be used to market a large variety of products and concepts. What is sustainability? Exactly what do we want to sustain? Why are we driven by this concept? As architects, are we actually achieving this goal in our work? Is this what our clients really want?
My entry reflected these questions from the perspective of a built work in Santa Fe, New Mexico. The design originated from a desire to connect the inhabitants of a place with the natural rhythms of the cosmos.
